The walkabout together with GESCHE shows the town of Winsen in the times of Renaissance, and leads you from Marstall, to church and old town, and to the ancient monestary yard and castle.
Gesche was born in the same year as Duchess Dorothea (1546), namely as a daughter of the baker Bokelbarg, from Deichstraße in Winsen. The young midwife married in 1565 the barber-surgeon Hamen from Winsen. Not only does she show her Winsen to the visitors, but also shares the midwife knowledge of her time with them.
The walkabout with "HEIN VOM BAU" („Hein of the Building Site“) shows the buildings from the time of Historism in Winsen. Carpenter Hein, who was born in Winsen in the year 1860, and who was apprentice with the companies Beecken and Bardowicks, shows the pretty buildings from the time around 1900 to the visitors, where he participated in the construction. In the first place, of course, the church spire must be mentioned, which was erected in 1898. He gives an introduction into the building skills of the 19th century. Of course, also Hein was babtized in the church of St. Mary’s and wed as well, namely in the year 1860.
